Investigative reporter Ruth Teichroeb has spent much of her journalistic career covering social issues involving vulnerable people: "It’s just a totally different landscape when dealing with someone who’s traumatized. They don’t know the rules, and what’s so essential in these interviews is to give the person choices about a whole host of things—from logistics like where the interview is going to be done and who’s going to be there, all the way to what’s going to appear in print.
